Bruno Senna Lalli is a Brazilian motorsports driver currently racing on the Formula 1 circuit for the Lotus Renault GP team. His other claim to fame is as the nephew of Formula 1 legend and three time world champion Ayrton Senna, so it can be said that racing is in his DNA. Ironically, his father Flavio Lalli also died in a motorcycle crash, much like his famous uncle who died on the circuit at Monza in the San Marino Grand Prix of 1994. As a tribute to his famous uncle, Bruno Senna Lalli wears a slightly modified version of the same helmet that his uncle started his career with.

From a very young age, he was interested in motorsports and was given a go-kart and with this go-kart, he and his uncle used to race on the family farm and Ayrton also saw huge potential in his nephew, so much so that before leaving McLaren for Williams in 1993, he said that his nephew was much faster than he could possibly dream of being. However, Ayrton Senna’s death somewhat halted the brilliant progress that Bruno was making under the guidance of his uncle. It was not until the 2004 San Marino Grand Prix and the tenth anniversary of the death of Ayrton Senna that Bruno was gifted the 1986 Lotus 98T model, which his uncle had raced in and he drove this car in the Brazilian Grand Prix in a tribute show. Bruno Senna Lalli began his career as a professional racer in 2004 in the Formula BMW UK Series where he raced for the Carlin Motorsport team for six races.

In 2005, he moved on to race in the British Formula Three International Series, racing for the Raikkonen Robertson Racing team, a team that was owned by the McLaren driver Kimi Raikkonen, and here, he had a more or less successful stint. Having competed in the 2006 Formula Three races, he moved on to the GP2 series for the 2007 and 2008 season. He was given a test drive by the Honda Racing team in November 2008, so that he could try out their new Formula 1 car but with the withdrawal of the team from the event, Bruno Senna Lalli was left without a team before signing for the Hispania Racing Team in 2010 from where he moved on to the Lotus Renault GP team in 2011, replacing Nick Heidfeld.
